Madrid, 18 May 2021- Rafael Nadal, Kia's World Ambassador, is one of the best tennis players of all time as he has just made clear again with his tenth title in Rome, with which he has already added 36 Masters 1,000, which join the 20 Grand Slams achieved in his career.
Before traveling to Rome, Rafa Nadal had a very special appointment in Madrid, where he was able to meet "in secret" the new Kia EV6. Rafa Nadal has been one of the first people to meet this model live in Spain. It was a pre-Series unit that Kia is moving around Europe to know the first impressions it awakens in the specialized press.
Rafa Nadal, who is always on the lookout for new products from the brand, confessed to having a special interest in this model, which redefines the frontiers of electric mobility by its technology, design, performance and space. The Spanish tennis player believes in sustainable mobility and the Kia EV6 is ideal for his needs, because it offers much of what a car asks for: comfort, space, visibility, equipment and technology... but with a discreet spirit and without sacrificing performance.
The first thing that caught his attention was the exterior design: Rafa took several turns around the car looking closely at its avant-garde shapes. The Kia EV6 is the first specifically electric vehicle launched under Kia's new design philosophy: "United opposites". At the heart of this philosophy is a new visual identity that evokes positive forces and natural energy, with contrasting combinations of sharp stylistic elements and sculptural forms.
Rafa also asked about the dimensions of the new model, a car with a large wheelbase, proportions between volumes and an average height, halfway between those of an SUV, a sports car and a crossover.
When he got behind the wheel, the expression of surprise and fascination on Rafa Nadal's face increased even more. And although we are always attracted by the exterior of cars, what really falls in love is the interior, where we spend most of the time. The large curved screen, the slender dashboard, the materials and the cleanliness of the design attracted Rafa's attention as much as the spaciousness of the interior space, the great visibility and the comfort of the seats, aspects that he values very much in a car.
Unfortunately, Rafa could not drive the new EV6, but he was interested in the performance of the new model. First of all, he asked about its autonomy, of more than 510 kilometers on a single charge; and how it is recharged, with a charge of 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes and of 100 km in less than 4.5 minutes, in a fast charger. The Spanish tennis player was surprised with these data, almost as much as with the performance of the EV6 GT, which is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 s and reaching a maximum speed of 260 km/h.
At the end of the meeting, Rafa asked for the date of arrival in Spain of the new model, because “I loved it and I want one”, in his own words.
