The No.8-ranked Brit proved too strong for the Australian, recording a 6-3 7-5 victory in 90 minutes.
Konta, who had never gone past the quarterfinal stage in Nottingham, dictated the match early and didn’t face a break point on her serve in the opening set.
But Barty stepped up her game in the second set to establish a 4-2 lead. However Barty, who served nine aces for the match, then lost five of the final six games.
“I only had one little dip but I tried to stay strong. I felt I was able to raise my game,” Konta said.
“It was definitely a nice little comeback. I worked very hard to get myself back into that second set and stop Ashleigh from running away with it.”
It wasn’t a great day for Australians at the WTA event, with Casey Dellacqua and Anastasia Rodionova also eliminated in doubles quarterfinal action.
Konta teamed up with Belgian Yanina Wickmayer to defeat Dellacqua, playing with Taiwan’s Hao-Ching Chan, 6-0 7-6(6).
While the British combination of Jocelyn Rae and Laura Robson defeated Rodionova and her Croatian partner Darija Jurak 4-6 6-3 10-7.
