The Majorcan tennis player is the first big star to confirm his appearance at the 2018 event, in what will be his 14th appearance. "The fans are going to enjoy a super tournament next year," Albert Costa said. The event will be held from April 21 to 29 at the Real Club Tenis Barcelona. Tickets are already on sale on the official website.

Nadal has been world number 1 since August. It´s the fourth time leading the world rankings. He is normally the first player to confirm his participation, guaranteeing the event’s quality and further enhancing its illustrious history. In his 13 performances Nadal has won 10 titles with a record of 54 games won and only 3 defeats.

Uncle Toni has ended his long-term partnership with Rafael Nadal, having introduced the sport to the world No. 1 and wrote an emotional tribute to his nephew to thank him for all they have achieved together. Since working together from the age of three, the Spaniard has won 16 Grand Slam titles – including 10 at Roland Garros – an Olympic Gold in both singles and doubles, and the Davis Cup on four occasions.

Throughout a long and illustrious career, his uncle and mentor has always been by his side, but from 2018 Nadal will be without his close confidant. He will continue on the ATP Tour with coaches Carlos Moya and Francisco Roig, while Uncle Toni will take up work in his nephew’s academy.
