13:24 Rafael Nadal will play at the Barcelona Open 2022 |
The Majorcan, current champion of the tournament, will seek his 13th title in the RCTB-1899 Rafa Nadal, who has signed the best start of the season ever with 15 victories (no defeats) and his 21st Grand Slam, has confirmed his participation in the next Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Trofeo Conde de Godó, which this 2022 reaches its 69th edition. The Majorcan tennis player is in top form and is facing this year’s clay court tour with great optimism to achieve great things. He is currently ranked fourth in the ATP rankings and remains the leading benchmark on clay, as evidenced by his 13 titles at Roland Garros or the 12th title in Barcelona and Monte Carlo. Therefore, Nadal remains faithful to the tournament of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899, an entity to which he has belonged since he was a child, in which he will participate for the seventeenth time and in which the center court bears his name. “Playing in my club and in front of my people means a lot to me,” said the Majorcan. |

ACAPULCO (AP): Rafael Nadal said earlier in the week that he wasn’t aware of his career statistics. Now, he might want to have a look at them.
The 35-year-old Spaniard defeated Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday to win the Mexican Open and extend his career-best start for a season to 15-0 as he won his 91st ATP title.
Nadal, who won his third title in 2022, including the Australian Open for his record 21st Grand Slam singles title, is three victories from tying Ivan Lendl’s total of 94 for third place for most championships in the Open Era. Jimmy Connors leads with 109 and Roger Federer has 103.
