Grigor Dimitrov and Rafael Nadal, both rivals and good friends, delighted Atlanta fans with a demonstration match at the Energy Center, in which World No. 2 prevailed 7-5 6-3.
Although the match was friendly, the 13,100-seat stadium was full and supporters showed support for the two all the time.
The proceeds raised will support the Spaniard’s Foundation, as well as the US National Tennis Foundation, which organizes and promotes the event, called The Premier Live Atlanta Challenge.
There was no way the winner could not express his superlatives to his opponent Grigor Dimitrov after the end of the match: “He is one of the players you want to watch because of his style and character. We also spend time together in Majorca. We train, we get on a boat, we fish. I think our friendship goes beyond tennis, and that’s the most important thing. ”

Rafael Nadal’s first two titles at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC (2005, 2013) were clinched on red clay. On Saturday, the top-seeded Spaniard completed his Acapulco hat trick on a hard court with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory against American Taylor Fritz.
”I couldn’t be happier. I played a great event from the beginning to the end,” Nadal said. “Acapulco was the first big title that I won in my career, so to be able to stay here after 15 years is amazing. I can’t thank enough the people who make me feel at home every single time."
Nadal secured his 85th tour-level singles title and his first of the season. He stormed through the draw without dropping a set and lost an average of five games per match. Nadal moved to 20-2 in Acapulco, joining David Ferrer and Thomas Muster as the only players to win at least three singles titles at this event.

Acapulco (AFP) - Rafael Nadal marked his return to action with a straight-sets victory over Pablo Andujar on Tuesday as he launched his bid to reclaim the world number one ranking at the Mexico Open in Acapulco.
The 33-year-old Spaniard, playing for the first time since his quarter-final exit to Dominic Thiem at the Australian Open last month, claimed a 6-3, 6-2 victory over compatriot Andujar in 1hr 30min.
"The most important thing when you have not competed for a while is to win, I needed a match like today to get in rhythm and gain some confidence," Nadal said after the victory.
