Funny Photos
How’s everyone? Thanks for the comments and discussion on my last post. I think we have exhausted the pre-draw discussion of Wimbledon now and we are ready for the much-anticipated draw which is made tomorrow of course. But before the big event I have something I want to share with you quickly which I think you will enjoy. I have already started the Funny Photos page which is under the galleries tab and which I keep updating, so I hope you are keeping a lookout.
Funny Videos
Now I have decided to add a Funny Videos page. Watching a video will require more time from you than viewing a photo, but you may find it well worth your while. I have found a good source of funny videos and will keep updating this category as well. But unlike the funny photos I will make an actual post every time I add a funny video and hopefully have a short discussion about it afterward with you. Also, it won’t always be funny. Sometimes it will just be interesting. There is a lot of serious discussion on my blog and I think humor is always important to help us relax and realize that it is all just a game and for fun.
The First Funny Videos
Today I have three videos, of which only two fall under the funny category. One of them most of you would have already seen probably, but it was so good and fitting after Nadal lost at the French Open that I decided it had to be here. But before that video here is the highlights of the Djokodal match which, by the way, is one of my favorite matches of all-time if not my favorite. Sure Nadal was not at his best, but I think people underestimate what a terrific win that was for the Djoker. Federer for one said he expected Nadal to win the title, so for him Nadal was the favorite in this match. And yet Djokovic destroyed the beast in straight sets. Despite losing a 4-0 lead in the first set, it turned out to be a clinical victory. So clinical that at 7-5, 6-3, 5-1 and 40-0 the beast’s spirit was utterly broken as he conceded the match with a double fault. It was only the second time in 11 years Nadal lost at the French Open, and the beatdown was so convincing that he may never win another grand slam title. This was probably the most satisfying match I ever watched, and then someone at Men’s Tennis Forums made the following video which just topped it off nicely. I’m sure it won’t be in everyone’s taste, but I found it hilarious. And apart from that you have to have a pretty rich imagination to make something like this. It is a bit of an insider joke because a lot of it is related to what goes on at Men’s Tennis Forums, but I think it is funny even if you’re not quite in on all the jokes. And just in case you didn’t find any of that funny(in which case you have my deepest sympathies) or if you think Andy Murray has no sense of humor, then check out the below video. I have always known that Murray has a wicked sense of humor, but a lot of people think he is just dull. Sure, he is not the most interesting player to watch when he goes into pushing mode and when he constantly berates himself, but he can be quite funny in interviews. And most importantly he can make fun of himself =)) The is in your court. //

Had a good laugh seeing the pictures, Ru-an, love them all, especially Stan’s shorts that have become too much for Ann Wintour to digest! Another outstanding is Roger’s twin in his arms! The draw is out, and Federer is in the same half as Murray and Nadal. Fortunately for him, he’ll only have to face one of them in the worst-case scenario, since he’s drawn in a different quarter from both of them. Berdych is also in his quarter, I think. And he has not beaten Berdych in a major in 6 years. Djokovic appears to have a considerably softer draw, with only Nishikori and Wawrinka on his half before the semis. Neither is exceptionally distinguished on grass courts, although Nishikori is improving on that surface. (I don’t think Wawrinka will be a real force on grass this year, and probably not ever). Looks like Djokovic has got a clear shot at mounting a title defense; I feel only Federer would stand a chance of beating him, and then only if he played his absolute best tennis. It’s definitely a doable draw for Federer, but not exactly easy since he’d have to dispatch Murray/Nadal in the semis and then Djokovic in the final. Still, you have to beat the guys in your way, no point complaining. C’mon Roger!

Hey guys, good draw has just been released. Let’s have a quick look: Djokovic: has an early round test against Kohlschreiber. Potential meeting with Kevin Anderson in R3 or R4. On track to meet Nishikori in QFs then Stan Wawrinka in the semis. Federer: Opens against Damir Dzumhur (who he played comfortably against at RG). No real pitfalls until the QFs, where he could meet Berdych. But given the way he’s been owning Berdych recently, I like his chances. A great serving week should be enough to see him into the semis. But that’s where it could get really really tricky. And this guy below is the reason why! Andy Murray: on course for a Federer semi-final, but has a stacked section with names like Kukushkin, Tsonga, Karlovic. Potentially Nadal in the QFs. But he’ll be up to the task for sure. And such draws inevitably open up at some stage.

Ru-an Reply: June 26th, 2015 at 12:55 pm Yeah not the draw Fedfans would have hoped for Krish. If Federer has to beat Djokoray to win the title it will be tough. But getting to the semis would be a good result at this stage. Berdych wouldn’t be easy.

Thanks Steve, Krish. Haven’t seen the full draw yet. But yeah, tough draw, getting Murray. But as we have seen lately already, draws doesn’t mean much for Roger. If he plays well, he can beat anyone. If he doesn’t, he loses early. Who knows, the wicked FH can suddenly fire! Or not! But he seems to be very pumped up and as everyone says, it maybe his last chance. So there is a lot of pressure. But it also means he is very driven. And we have seen what a driven Roger (2012) is capable of!! Djoker is surely sleepwalking to the final with his excellent form and his improved serve and volleys and now a softish draw! Ru-an, can we have a bit of fun and get some predictions going and then at the end of tourney, see who got the most correct?!! Not the whole tourney at once. But match by match. The day before a match happens.

Don’t know why you say creating another page is not worth the trouble. It will take a lot of thought and extra work though.

Ru-an Reply: June 26th, 2015 at 2:48 pm If it makes people more interested in my blog I’m all for it. Whereas I personally have very little interest in predicting the outcome of matches, especially the scorelines, people seem to enjoy it. I think many would be interested actually.

Great addition the funny vids, Ru-an! That Spanish guy is still the best! Nothing’s gonna beat that! About Murray, it’s just too bad people don’t appreciate him more. How can a super witty person be dull?!! Rather he is shy and doesn’t try to sell himself. So people say he is dull. One needs to be patient and “discover” him. There’s so much going on behind that head of his. He gives the wittiest on the spot answers of the big 4. I just love his self-deprecating humor. And even when he berates himself on court, I dont know to laugh or to cry for him! It is so stupid to behave like that (why show your frustration to the opponent who would just gain a greater psychological advantage over you) but at the same time, I find it endearing/touching coz he is so real and I’m also laughing because it is also funny!! He is the most honest/transparent of the big 4. No airs, no learned PR, no false humility, not a try hard…….just plain Andy Murray. That is his uniqueness I suppose.

Ru-an Reply: June 26th, 2015 at 1:12 pm Glad you like it! And yes, nothing will ever beat the Spanish guy. I think Murray’s self-berating is costly. You don’t want to be doing that kind of thing at that level. It could make the difference between winning slams and losing them. Do you ever see Fedalovic do that? It is quite stupid to behave like that as you noted. But at least he has a sense of humor unlike Nadull.

veronica Reply: June 26th, 2015 at 1:57 pm Yeah, it is costly and it has definitely cost him. I suspect Murray is the kind of person who, when you tell him to do something will do exactly the opposite, even to his own detriment. It’s almost “suicidal” the way he goes about his career. I’m sure his team must have advised him about the berating but he won’t listen, he wants to solve things his own way. The female coach thing…just wants to go against convention. Who in ATP, never mind the big 3, would EVER hire a female coach??!! It’s like asking WTA how to play men’s tennis!! People saying his mum maybe a hindrance to his progress, he didn’t bat an eyelid. And the list goes on. If some of those things he had got right, he might have won more titles/slams by now.

Ru-an Reply: June 26th, 2015 at 2:02 pm Yes hiring a female coach was strange, but at least he had a very good year so far. He is definitely very talented. Probably the second most talented behind Federer in the big 4. But I think that school shooting had a big effect on his as well. Maybe made him more fragile and sensitive.

veronica Reply: June 26th, 2015 at 2:35 pm Yeah, he was traumatised for years and couldn’t talk about it until quite recently and when he did, he broke down. I have a tenderness towards Murray just because of this incident. I think he also didn’t have much of a father figure. His mum is extremely close to him and have actually done a wonderful job raising two great sons. I suppose it explains why he seems more comfortable with women…..To his credit, I totally agree with you, it seems to be working out well. Maybe he could really pour out to Mauresmo, and that has helped free him to play to his potential. She has also encouraged him to use his variety. He seem to listen to women more than men…..haha! But I’m sincerely really happy for him. It would be edge of seat excitement if Djokeray happens!!!

veronica Reply: June 26th, 2015 at 2:24 pm Interestingly, by contrast, Djoker is the complete opposite. He takes on board what can help his game. He doesn’t let pride get in his way. I think his openness is his greatest strength and is quite unique amongst champions. I read his book on his gluten-free diet couple of years ago and if I remember correctly, he mentioned many times about being open.
