Americans John Isner and Jack Sock advanced to the quarterfinals of BNP Paribas Masters in Paris on Thursday, November 3, 2016. They set up an all-American quarterfinal.
Isner defeated giant killer Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany, who took out U.S. Open champ Stan Wawrinka in the second round. Isner won in three sets 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3. He plays fellow compatriot Sock in the quarterfinal on Friday.
Sock beat local favorite Richard Gasquet of France in a tight two-setter 6-4, 7-6(11).
Marin Cilic of Croatia and Milos Raonic of Canada also advanced to the quarterfinals. Cilic beat David Goffin of Belgium 6-3, 7-6 (9). Cilic plays Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal on Friday. Raonic defeated Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. He awaits the winner of Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Kei Nishikori of Japan.
