Victoria’s Jaimee Fourlis has won her first Grade 1 ITF junior girls title after taking out the Prince George’s County International Hard Court Junior Tennis Championships in Maryland, United States over the weekend.

Fourlis defeated Cori Gauff (USA) 6-4 6-4 to take out the Grade 1 title, having defeated world No.4-ranked junior and top seed Elena Rybakina (RUS) 4-6 6-4 7-5 in the semifinals.

Fourlis added to her success at the tournament by securing the doubles title with partner Emily Appleton (GBR) after defeating I-Hsuan Cho/ Yi Tsen Cho (TPE) 6-1 6-3.

The tournament was Fourlis’s first junior competition since Wimbledon 2016 with the world No.334 entering the junior tournament after contesting the maximum amount of professional events (16) allowed for a 17-year-old as outlined in the WTA’s age eligibility and player development guidelines.

Fourlis has produced some tremendous results in 2017, winning a round in her first Grand Slam main draw at Australian Open 2017, winning the Australian wildcard play-off to secure a main draw Roland Garros spot, and reaching a career-high ranking of 271 in February.
