The Australian 16th seed needed only 63 minutes to see off the world No.38’s challenge, winning 6-2 6-3 on Wednesday.
Kyrgios will play the winner of fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev’s clash with Richard Gasquet for a place in the quarterfinals of the ATP event.
It was his second comfortable win of the week in Canada, after seeing off Viktor Troicki for the loss of just three games in a 50-minute first-round drubbing.
