Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and other TOP-players will play “A day at the Drive” exhibition in Adelaide on 29 January 2021

Grand Slam champions Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal will star at A Day at the Drive, the official curtain raiser to the Australian summer of tennis in 2021.

The one-off event will be held at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre in Adelaide on Friday 29 January and will feature a total of eight players.

Williams and Nadal will be joined by Novak Djokovic Dominic Thiem, Simona Halep and Naomi Osaka, with further player announcements to be revealed in due course.

The current field boasts an impressive 66 Grand Slam singles titles between them.

The group of international players will arrive in Adelaide from 14 January and undertake mandatory quarantine for 14 days. All players and their teams arriving for the Australian summer of tennis are over and above the numbers of returning Australians to the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Day at the Drive will feature two sessions with reduced venue capacity in line with State Government requirements to ensure the safety of all patrons.

Following the Australian Open, Memorial Drive will also host the Adelaide International WTA 500 event from 22 to 27 February 2021. 

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall said these events are expected to attract an international audience and showcase the recently renovated Memorial Drive as a world-class tennis precinct.
