Rublev, Fritz SF Battle Interrupted By Rain In Monte-Carlo
An engrossing semi-final between Andrey Rublev and Taylor Fritz was interrupted in the deciding set by rain on Saturday at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.
Fritz was serving at 7-5, 1-6, 2-3 when the players went off shortly before 4pm CET at the clay-court ATP Masters 1000 event in Monaco. The American claimed a topsy-turvy opening set that featured seven breaks of serve before Rublev roared back in the second to level the clash on Court Rainier III.
Fritz holds a 4-2 ATP Head2Head series lead against Rublev and is attempting to become just the sixth American to reach the Monte-Carlo championship match in the Open Era (since 1968). Rublev is attempting to reach his second Monte-Carlo final, having also done so in 2021.
