Objective:
To improve serve placement, consistency, and the ability to target specific areas of the service box.
Setup:- Divide each service box into four quadrants using cones, chalk, or visual markers.
- Have several tennis balls ready for continuous practice.
- Stand behind the baseline and prepare to serve as you normally would.
- Aim to place your serve into a specific quadrant of the service box.
- Alternate between the deuce and ad courts to practice serving to both sides.
- Focus on consistency and accuracy over power at first.
- Level 1: Hit each quadrant once (total of 4 successful serves).
- Level 2: Hit each quadrant twice in a row.
- Level 3: Simulate match conditions by adding pressure (e.g., hitting targets in specific orders).
- Spin Practice: Work on slice, topspin, or flat serves while maintaining accuracy.
- Serve-and-Return: Have a partner return the serve, focusing on starting the point effectively.
- Maintain proper toss height and placement for better control.
- Keep your eyes on the ball during contact.
- Adjust your stance and grip for precision over different serve types.
By repeating this drill regularly, you'll gain confidence in placing your serves with purpose during matches.
