Drill Objective- Improve serve placement and consistency.
- Practice reading and effectively returning serves.
- Develop match-like rhythm and adaptability.
- Set a Target:
- Divide the service box into sections (wide, T, and body) using cones or markers.
- Start Serving:
- Practice placing the ball into each target area.
- Aim for at least 10 accurate serves in each zone.
- Partner or Coach Feeds:
- A partner or coach serves to you. Focus on reading the spin, speed, and placement.
- Controlled Returns:
- Return the serve to specific areas of the court, such as deep cross-court or short angled shots.
- Rally Setup: After the return, continue a rally focusing on consistency and placement.
- Alternate Roles: Switch between serving and returning after 10–15 minutes to ensure balanced practice.
- Pressure Serve Practice:
- Play points starting at deuce, practicing serves under match-like conditions.
- Aggressive Returns:
- Focus on hitting aggressive, offensive returns to take control of the point.
- Serve Variety:
- Alternate between flat, slice, and kick serves to improve versatility and returning adaptability.
- For Serves: Focus on fluid motion and consistent toss placement.
- For Returns: Keep a compact backswing and stay balanced to handle powerful serves.
- Track Progress: Record your accuracy or success rates to monitor improvement.
