For the second consecutive year, Rafa Nadal will train on the Mallorca Open courts in order to prepare for Wimbledon. The World No. 1, who won Roland Garros for the eleventh time last Sunday, pulled out of Queen’s following the advice of his doctors to rest after playing 27 matches in the last two months, where he has won titles in Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Rome and Roland Garros. Now, and before the start of Wimbledon (starting July 2), Nadal will face the preparation of the third Grand Slam of the season on the grass of the Mallorca Open.
This means that fans who buy a ticket to attend the WTA tournament held in Santa Ponsa will see Nadal practicing at the event facilities, enjoying the preparation of the best player in the world for Wimbledon. In addition to having the best female tennis players of the world on the island, with the best field in the history of the tournament -Angelique Kerber, Caroline Garcia or Carla Suárez-, there will be also the possibility to follow the progress of Nadal in his adaptation from clay to grass.
Last year, after training in Mallorca, the Spaniard headed to London to continue with his set-up before Wimbledon. That preparation will be exactly the same as in 2018: the World No.1 will start his road to Wimbledon near home, taking advantage of the celebration of the third edition of the Mallorca Open. And all the fans who come to follow the tournament will see the progress made by Nadal to get ready for the Cathedral, where he has been the champion twice.
